Beat the Heat! 5 Things to Do Indoors in Pigeon Forge This Summer

There’s nothing like a summer vacation with family. The excitement of exploring new surroundings, the time to connect and enjoy new experiences together, and, of course, the sunny weather. But if you hit a heatwave and the high temps start slowing the fun down, worry not! Pigeon Forge offers plenty of awesome indoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. We’ve rounded up 5 of our Pigeon Forge indoor faves so you can cool down without pressing pause on family fun.

1. Wild Bear Falls Water Park

Our first stop for cooling off is the impressive Wild Bear Falls Water Park, located just 5 miles outside of Pigeon Forge. This indoor water park is part of the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and Spa, but day visitors to the water park are welcome as well as resort guests. With a cool mountain theme and plenty of windows, Wild Bear Falls Water Park is an awesome time for kids, and a brightly lit space for all to enjoy without overheating. The 5th largest water park in the country, you’ll find 60,000 square foot of fun to explore, with over 300,000 gallons of water flowing through park every day.

2. Magiquest

Staying in the hotel on scorching hot days is no fun. Instead, give your brain an adventure while letting your body chill in air-conditioned comfort. Relish the many challenges of Magiquest, a unique attraction featuring themed activities including blacklight lit indoor mini-golf, mazes through both mirrors and lasers, plus the interactive “quest” complete with a magic training session. Each activity is available for a la cart passes, or you can purchase a combo pack to take advantage of all the fun. This is a great option for families or groups of friends, as well as couples who are ready to feel childlike at heart!

3. Pigeon Forge Snow

No list of indoor activities in Pigeon Forge would be complete without Pigeon Forge Snow! A newer addition to the Pigeon Forge community, this unique attraction has quickly become a hit. Kids and adults can slide down slippery, snow-covered slides, all without having to pull on a coat and boots. There’s a snack bar, plenty of seating, and even a snow play area which is perfect for younger kids. It’s just like a sandbox, but with the sweet relief of cold, clean, manmade snow, and a 100% chance of snowballs!

4. Old Forge Distillery

Saunter on to the large, shady porch outside of Old Forge Distillery, and you’ll feel a few degrees cooler, in more ways than one. This craft distillery offers uniquely flavored moonshine samples in a comfortable, clean atmosphere. It’s great for solo travelers, couples, or friends, but families are welcome, too! While the “big kids” enjoy moonshine in flavors like Oatmeal Cookie and French Toast, children can sip on lemonade and enjoy exploring the gift shop for a memory to take home. Old Forge Distillery also offers formal tours, but simply call ahead to confirm hours in the tasting room, and stroll in for moonshine samples and a selection of cocktails and spirits.

5. Big Top Arcade

Parents, if you’re picturing the arcades of your youth, think again! Big Top Arcade features an expansive selection of arcade games in a pristine setting with awesome, attentive staff. A great place for kids of all ages to wander and play, with plenty of solid prizes to choose from if you end up racking up some points on a digital play card. If you’re looking for a hit, be sure to check out the Wizard of Oz game. Inspired by the classic film, players say it should come with a warning sign because it can get addictive, quick! When you’re ready for a break from the games, be sure to check out Big Top Arcade’s go-kart track as well. Feeling the wind rush by is an awesome way to beat the heat this summer.

Remember, a fun summer is a safe summer, so be sure to stay hydrated while keeping cool, and give yourself plenty of time to relax and recharge between activities. After all, that’s what vacation is all about!
