One of Gatlinburg’s coziest and most family-friendly shops, The Chocolate Monkey is known for its enthusiastic employees, who are every bit as sweet as the candy they serve. The candy store offers a variety of delicious treats, including fudge, caramel apples, cinnamon-glazed nuts, and ice cream. All are served with a smile.

Samples are offered and encouraged at The Chocolate Monkey, in the belief that once customers taste the store’s superior products, they’ll instantly want to order more. Want to try multiple types of fudge? You’re in luck — The Chocolate Monkey doesn’t impose sample limits that you might encounter at other candy shops.

The Chocolate Monkey’s personal touch can be attributed to the hard work and warm hearts of Steve and Mei Shuen Branham, who joined forces with several of the Gatlinburg area’s most experienced candy makers. Their hardworking staff members truly desire a superior experience for their customers. They enjoy chatting with visitors and guiding them to other local businesses and attractions worth checking out.

There are multiple Chocolate Monkey locations. The downtown Gatlinburg store enjoys a strong reputation throughout the Smoky Mountain region and is a hot spot among tourists and locals alike.

A few of our menu favorites at Chocolate Monkey include the following:

Fudge
Made the old-fashioned way with real cream and plenty of butter, The Chocolate Monkey’s fudge is sure to delight. The shop offers a vast fudge selection. Favorites include peanut butter, mint chocolate, and maple nut fudge.

Caramel Apple
If you intend to eat a caramel apple at The Chocolate Monkey, you best arrive hungry or plan to share with a friend. The caramel apples here are far larger than anything you’ll find elsewhere in the Smoky Mountain region. You’re welcome to select a traditional caramel apple recipe, but it’s way more fun to eat the specialized versions, featuring sprinkles, dark chocolate drizzle, Oreo crumbles, or pecans. Some apples are even decorated to look like the store’s namesake: a chocolate monkey!

Chocolate-Covered Cheesecake
Cheesecake lovers, rejoice! The Chocolate Monkey serves a chocolatey, easy-to-eat version on a stick. It’s more satisfying than any stick-based food you’ll find at the fair.

Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
Add a little fruit to your chocolate love affair. At The Chocolate Monkey, you can choose between strawberries dipped in dark, milk, or white chocolate. The store also serves chocolate-dipped bananas.

Insider Tip:
The chocolate-covered and dipped items from The Chocolate Monkey do not hold up well to heat. If you order on a warm day, eat promptly or store in a cooler or refrigerator as soon as possible. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a messy puddle of chocolate.
