Calling all treasure hunters, antique lovers, collectors, and those who live for awesome shopping adventures. If you want to explore nostalgic items and reminisce about times gone by, stop by Antiques on Howard in Boone, NC. Antique stores and specialty retail shops are sprinkled throughout this area, but this long-time local favorite has something extra special. It’s an eclectic antique store with but so much more. You are not going to believe your eyes. Plan to spend plenty of time because this local gem is an antiquer’s heaven on Earth, right in Boone, NC. Its location is perfect and appropriately named since Boone, known as the “heart of the high country” is named for Daniel Boone, the explorer and trailblazer who lived nearby during the mid-1700s. This historical tidbit has little to do with antiques, but everything to do with the vibe your feel when you explore this amazing store.

It’s like walking back into time, with the perfect balance of modern of personality. The moment you approach the entrance you know you are in for a unique treat. The facade has an old country appeal with, “Antiques” painted front and center right on the window. You can see through the glass a hint of what is inside. It’s all so yesterday. There’s a reason the locals voted Boones, Best Antique Store in the area through an annual newspaper competition.

There are antiques to purchase, arts and crafts supplies for your DIY projects, and something for every taste. There are actually 6,000 square feet of antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing furniture, coins estate jewelry, glass, lamps, lights, and so much more. If you’re lucky you might find some hard-to-find Roseville glass! And it is all on one, that’s right, one floor. No climbing up and down stairways or lugging your lute. It’s convenient, and the customer service is second to none. They encourage you to slow down and take time to absorb all the sights and sounds. Everywhere you turn is something amazing.  The entire experience was fun, educational, and inspiring. There’s something for the young and young at heart at Antiques on Howard.

If you are a bookworm and like to read, you’re in for a treat. There is an entire section devoted to gently used vintage books for adults and children. You might even find a quaint old reading desk to go home with you and your new, well, old well-read books. There are sweet cookie jars, Asian vases, unusual lamps, furniture, picture frames, dishes, milk glass, license plates, stoves, wall art, and the list goes on and on. How about an antique (man-tique) tool or two, or three? You’ll get to work exploring tools hanging from the walls, filling shelves, and displayed around on the floor. What a great gift idea for the handyman or woman in your life!

For those of you that enjoy vintage costume jewelry and scarves get ready to discover spectacular collections. You’ll find beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces and gorgeous gems. You see, there are several booths and sections within the antique shop that help you sort out all the fabulous merchandise. Unlike some antique stores that are packed, stacked, and stored, the displays here are tasteful, creative, and well done. It is a pleasure to see how they re-purpose and reuse forgotten items and give you ideas for different relevant uses for today. If you are searching for something special and don’t see it on display, ask the friendly knowledgeable team. They may know exactly where to find it for you.
