Whether you’re passing through Boone or staying awhile, it makes sense to stop by Hatchet Coffee–either for your favorite cup of coffee, a pound of house-roasted beans, or both. The storefront looks deceptively small from the parking lot. When you step through the doors, you’ll be greeted by ample seating, bright murals along the walls, and a plethora of local art and classy branded merchandise.
A warm coffee aroma will greet you before you even open the front door. Hatchet is a roaster as well as a coffee shop, and they have a wide variety of house roasts that are local favorites for very good reasons. The cafe is family-friendly and welcoming; it makes a great hangout space for both families snagging breakfast before a day of exploring or for individuals looking for good Wi-Fi, excellent coffee, and a couple of hours of laptop time.
Some of our menu favorites at Hatchet Coffee include:
This is a coffee shop (obviously). And the coffees are very, very good. But the avocado toast is so excellent that visitors rave about it long after they’ve left. Something about the quality of the toast, the seasoning, and the flavor combinations make it some of the best avocado toast that we’ve ever tasted. There’s a reason it’s one of the most popular items on the menu (after the coffee), and that probably won’t change anytime soon.
The exact sandwich menu varies depending on what’s in season and what’s in stock on a given week, but the sandwiches at Hatchet always feature fresh ingredients in fabulous combinations that satisfy and nourish at the same time. Local ingredients are used whenever possible–and they also use local Stick Boy Bread Company bread for their sandwiches, making them a step above the rest.
Looking for something fruity, light, and nourishing? Hatchet’s fresh fruit smoothies are seriously underrated menu items. They use top-quality, fresh ingredients to craft each smoothie, and each one boasts incredible flavor while also being surprisingly satisfying.
Want a latte featuring some Instagram-worthy latte art? This is your place. Or opt for a hot, satisfying cortado, a flat white, or a cappuccino that hits the spot every time.
Hatchet Coffee ships its house roasts all over the country; they’re that popular among visitors. Grab a bag to try, and don’t hesitate to ask for tips on finding the perfect roast to fit your flavor preferences. You might just find yourself a monthly subscriber long after you leave. Their roasts are just that good.
Hatchet Coffee Roasters is located just off Bamboo Rd. east of central Boone. It’s just a few minutes off Hwy. 421 S., making it an easy stop whether you’re passing through town on the way to the Blue Ridge Mountains or exploring the town of Boone for the day.
-Trying to decide between stopping at Stick Boy Bread Co. or Hatchet Coffee Roasters? Hatchet serves up Stick Boy pastries on-site and uses Stick Boy Bread for their avocado toast and sandwiches; this is a great place to stop for the best of both worlds.
-Hatchet doesn’t offer many gluten-free items on its menu, so if you’re hungry and looking for GF menu options, you might want to grab your coffee here and go elsewhere for lunch.
