0Step up your standard bar darts game to a real man’s (or woman’s) sport. Axe throwing at The Axe House is easy to learn, fun to compete in and true to the heritage of the Smoky Mountains. It’s also a little dangerous if you don’t pay attention, but the staff will provide safety training and ensure everyone participates in a responsible manner.

Axe throwing is a target sport, much like darts but with projectiles that are much bigger. Participants hurl axes (usually overhand) down a laneway toward a target. A bullseye is worth the most, with each ring outward counting for slightly less. Throw for fun, make it a standard target competition, or ask the staff for some other variations of games to play with the axes.

At The Axe House Sevierville, this sport is open to anyone who’s able to hold and responsibly hurl an axe (which is more the size of a hatchet). Children are welcome without any official age restriction, making this an excellent family activity for those who’d like to take out some aggression.

In order to make sure everyone is able to enjoy this sport responsibly, all participants and spectators who enter the axe-throwing area are required to complete a short on-site safety training session. The staff who provide the training will also monitor throwing to ensure that safety protocols are always followed.

When throwing for a half-hour or hour, you’re bound to work up an appetite. While the Axe House Seirville itself doesn’t officially have a restaurant, Pizza at the Cove is in the building and has some of the best bar food in the region. You can order pizza, wings, desserts and lots of other unhealthy options directly from Pizza at the Cove while at The Ax House. Even beer is on tap, because what could pair better with hurling large, sharp objects?

Throwing is offered by the half-hour or hour, with respective prices set at $15 and $25 per person. Reservations aren’t required, but they’re recommended because the house is known to run on a prompt schedule.

If you’ve never hurled an axe, this is a fast-growing sport both in the United States and around the world. Bring the group to The Axe House Sevierville, and you’ll see why it’s so much fun.

A few of our favorite items at The Axe House Sevierville include:

Half-Hour of Axe Throwing
Perfect for kids and those who aren’t quite sure about hurling hatchets, a Half-Hour of Axe Throwing lets people experience the sport without fully committing to it. Instead, they can spend more time focusing on the pitchers and pizzas at the bar.

Full Hour of Axe Throwing
Want a real arm workout? Go for the Full Hour of Axe Throwing, and your bicep will be aching by the end. You might even need to try aiming with you’re off-arm a few times if your axes start falling short of their target.

Craft Pitcher
The Smoky Mountains are home to many great breweries. Get a pitcher of a local craft beer so that all adults in your group can stay properly hydrated.

Buffalo Wings
Although a long way from Buffalo, New York, the staff at the next-door restaurant know how to cook up good wings. Get at least an extra dozen, and there likely still won’t be any leftover.

Individual Pizza
Some of the best pizza in the region, and it can be customized to your personal liking. With you go with traditional pepperoni on your Individual Pizza or something that has a little more flair? Chicken, bacon and ranch is a popular combination to try.
