Description

A four-bedroom, pet-friendly home, Shooting Star offers 3,500 square feet of luxury. When you're not indoors shooting pool, playing ping-pong, or relaxing in the sauna, you'll be outdoors in the hot tub or kicking back on the huge deck, enjoying the mountain view and the background music of songbirds during the day and owls at night.

Shooting Star can sleep up to ten people (and a pet or two!). Because all four of its bedrooms are spacious retreats, with a king-size bed and a TV, the sprawling house can accommodate several couples on a weekend getaway as comfortably as it can a family or two. The two en-suite primary bedrooms are particularly pampering: Each has its own large bathroom with a Jacuzzi as well as a shower. And one of the suites is the ultimate in luxury; in addition to a roomy sitting area with a fireplace, it boasts a sauna. Staying here is almost like vacationing in an exclusive spa. Should you have additional guests, a couch in the great room opens into a queen-size bed.

Speaking of the great room, the open, sunny space features a wall of picture windows so that you can admire the Smoky Mountains even as you stretch out on one of the plush sofas. The whole group can gather together to watch a movie on the TV with cable channels and a DVD player or play Pictionary by the fireplace. The game room has plenty of other amusements as well: board games, a dartboard, and a pool table. If none of those strike your fancy, head to Shooting Star's two-car garage, where you'll find the ping-pong table. And of course the home has free WiFi, so that you can share your adventures with your friends back home.

When it comes to dining, you have several options. Shooting Star is just a short drive from scores of restaurants specializing in everything from Southern comfort food to Mexican cuisine. Or you can eat in. The dining table seats six, and there's room for several more at the accompanying occasional table or at the kitchen's breakfast bar. In fact, once you see how large and well equipped the kitchen is, you might be eager to try one of those elaborate recipes you never have time for at home. Another option is to cook and dine alfresco. There's a charcoal grill outside and a dining table on the deck, which overlooks a tranquil pond as well as looks out toward the Smokies. The fresh mountain breeze transforms even soup and sandwiches into a feast.

Because Shooting Star is within Gatlinburg's exclusive Cobbly Nob neighborhood, Shooting Star is at the foot of Cobbly Nob-less than a mile from Shooting Star-is the Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by Grand Slam golf champion Gary Player.

Shooting Star is also less than two miles from Climb Works, where you can explore the mountains by zip line or mountain bike. Just a bit farther are the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a wonderland of waterfalls, wildlife, and wildflowers, and the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, an eight-mile trail of more than 120 galleries, studios, and shops. Less than a half-hour away is downtown Gatlinburg, home to Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, the Guinness World Records Adventure, arcades, thrill rides, and a tram that carries you over the town to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area.

However you spend your day, you'll love ending it at serene Shooting Star-perhaps while soaking in the gazebo's hot tub or enjoying a nightcap on the deck beneath the star-studded sky. Don't miss out; book your stay today, before someone else beats you to it. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Shooting Star

Nice location, house could use a little fixing up. Beds were comfortable, lots of kitchen supplies.

Fell short of our expectations...

Cons: House had many dead bugs on the floor. Paint was chipped on walls, door frames and other areas throughout the house. The ceilings had traces of water damage and were cracked and chipped throughout the house. The house had a strong musty smell especially on the 1st floor. There was an used bandaid left on the master bathroom floor. Many kitchen table chairs were broken or very wobbly. As was the outdoor deck furniture. The pool table was old and had many groves and dents - Making it hard to play. Bed sheets had stains on them like they hasn’t been washed. Couches had many stains and poorly sewn rips. No vacuum to clean with, only a mop, broom and dust pan. Screen for sliding glass door was off track and popped out multiple times. Front door didn’t latch and had to be kept locked with the deadbolt at all times to keep it from opening on its own. Lamps didn’t work nor did the light in the stairwell. Sauna was plugged into a small white extension cord. Not safe at all. Not all the jets in the hot tub worked. Pros: Had nice fall/seasonal decorations. Big and spacious rooms. Private and quite location. Decent views of the mountains and surrounding landscape. Overall, not impressed with the home especially for the price we paid.

50/50 experience

House is very nice. The internet only worked half the time. Not all the jets in the hot tub work. And they need to spray for bugs. But other than that we loved the house and beautiful views.
