Shooting Star can sleep up to ten people (and a pet or two!). Because all four of its bedrooms are spacious retreats, with a king-size bed and a TV, the sprawling house can accommodate several couples on a weekend getaway as comfortably as it can a family or two. The two en-suite primary bedrooms are particularly pampering: Each has its own large bathroom with a Jacuzzi as well as a shower. And one of the suites is the ultimate in luxury; in addition to a roomy sitting area with a fireplace, it boasts a sauna. Staying here is almost like vacationing in an exclusive spa. Should you have additional guests, a couch in the great room opens into a queen-size bed.
Speaking of the great room, the open, sunny space features a wall of picture windows so that you can admire the Smoky Mountains even as you stretch out on one of the plush sofas. The whole group can gather together to watch a movie on the TV with cable channels and a DVD player or play Pictionary by the fireplace. The game room has plenty of other amusements as well: board games, a dartboard, and a pool table. If none of those strike your fancy, head to Shooting Star's two-car garage, where you'll find the ping-pong table. And of course the home has free WiFi, so that you can share your adventures with your friends back home.
When it comes to dining, you have several options. Shooting Star is just a short drive from scores of restaurants specializing in everything from Southern comfort food to Mexican cuisine. Or you can eat in. The dining table seats six, and there's room for several more at the accompanying occasional table or at the kitchen's breakfast bar. In fact, once you see how large and well equipped the kitchen is, you might be eager to try one of those elaborate recipes you never have time for at home. Another option is to cook and dine alfresco. There's a charcoal grill outside and a dining table on the deck, which overlooks a tranquil pond as well as looks out toward the Smokies. The fresh mountain breeze transforms even soup and sandwiches into a feast.
Because Shooting Star is within Gatlinburg's exclusive Cobbly Nob neighborhood, Shooting Star is at the foot of Cobbly Nob-less than a mile from Shooting Star-is the Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by Grand Slam golf champion Gary Player.
Shooting Star is also less than two miles from Climb Works, where you can explore the mountains by zip line or mountain bike. Just a bit farther are the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a wonderland of waterfalls, wildlife, and wildflowers, and the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, an eight-mile trail of more than 120 galleries, studios, and shops. Less than a half-hour away is downtown Gatlinburg, home to Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, the Guinness World Records Adventure, arcades, thrill rides, and a tram that carries you over the town to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area.
However you spend your day, you'll love ending it at serene Shooting Star-perhaps while soaking in the gazebo's hot tub or enjoying a nightcap on the deck beneath the star-studded sky. Don't miss out; book your stay today, before someone else beats you to it. We look forward to seeing you soon.
