Description

**The Hot Tub is currently Out of Order**

Don't be fooled by the name of this cabin. Although it's called African Safari, the one-bedroom, one-level log home is the essence of mountain-cabin charm. And with amenities such as a pool table, an outdoor hot tub and access to an indoor heated pool year-round, it provides plenty of luxuries as well.

African Safari is located in the Hidden Springs Resort, less than 10 minutes from Dollywood and Parrot Mountain and Gardens. Within 15 minutes, you can drive to even more attractions, including the Titanic Museum, the Cal Ripken Experience, Blake Jones Racing Center, Gatlinburg Golf Course, dinner theaters, restaurants and more. Another advantage of the resort is its indoor heated pool, where you can swim come rain, snow or shine.

When you're not swimming in the pool or hitting the local hot spots, you'll find plenty to enjoy in African Safari itself. The great room, for instance, includes a pool table and an electronic dartboard to get into the competitive spirit. For more laid-back entertainment, relax in one of the two recliners or stretch out on the leather sofa and watch a movie on the 32-inch TV with cable and a DVD player. In winter, the glow of the gas log fireplace makes the wood-planked floors, walls and vaulted ceiling even more inviting. In summer, the ceiling fan adds a refreshing breeze. The large wall of windows looking out toward the lush woodlands encourages daydreaming any time of year.

You can also head out to the large covered deck to revel in the sights and sounds of the setting. The deck is furnished with classic rocking chairs so you can kick back amid the breeze in timeless Smoky Mountain fashion. For a more pampering experience, gaze out at the sun-dappled trees or the star-speckled sky from the steamy bubbles of the deck's four-person hot tub. A long soak feels especially rejuvenating after a day of hiking in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park or skiing at Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area.

The deck includes a dining table so that you can enjoy meals alfresco. After all, the fresh mountain air makes even the simplest meal seem like a feast. Of course, there's another table for four inside as well. Likewise, in addition to a charcoal grill outside, African Safari has a fully equipped kitchen indoors. Here, you'll find all the appliances, gadgets, cookware and tableware you need, from a full-size refrigerator to a blender to a dishwasher.

The crowning glory of African Safari is its primary suite. The perfect intimate retreat, it includes a king-size bed, a gas fireplace, a TV, a private bathroom and perhaps best of all, a jetted tub. The bedroom also opens onto the deck, so you can savor a nightcap in the silvery moonlight before indulging in a restorative soak before nestling under the covers. Even if you don't turn on the fireplace, romance will no doubt be in the air!

If you have additional guests staying with you, the sofa in the great room accommodates two, and there's a full bathroom nearby for added convenience!

You can pack light when you stay at African Safari. We'll provide all the clean towels and linens you could possibly need. In fact, the king-size bed will be impeccably made up by the time you arrive, so you can sprawl out for a nap before you even unpack. What's more, the cabin has its own washer and dryer. For once you can return from vacation without immediately having to do laundry!

The living is easy at African Safari-and isn't that what a vacation is all about? So book your stay today. We're looking forward to seeing you!

Pleasant

There was some difficulty getting in our cabin. Passcode difficulty, resolved by our travel agent, good thing as no one answered my message until the following day. Hot tub was not ready to use, had to wait until next day. Decor odd and outdated, definitely needs TV upgrade. Scenery out back waaay overgrown. Cabin as a whole was nice, we enjoyed playing pool and darts, loved the big windows, and rockers on the deck.

Pleasant but rough

The atmosphere was nice but the cleanliness was lacking. There are cobwebs in the bathroom and the fans were dirty and the hot tub was in rough condition. We did enjoy using the hot tub on the deck, overall it was a nice week. We did appreciate the amenities that were provided.

My experience was good, BUT...

My experience was good, BUT...  Now I'd like to elaborate in the form of pros and cons about the Knotty & Nice cabin in order to be as objective as I can about my experience.  Let me start with what fascinated me about the cabin. It is secluded from other cabins where I had to drive up to a remote area, which in it of itself gives a feeling of being far away from the outside world. Another thing that was appealing was the design of the cabin where the wooded walls, bathrooms, furniture, etc., gave this exotic feeling, and nativeness with the beautiful growing trees of the area. Another thing about the cabin is that it was fully supplied with appliances for washing dishes and clothes, soaps, and other things like the grill, jaccuzi, etc, Also, checking in and checking out was excellent, in which it minimized encounter with other people, which was significant in promoting social distancing.  Now let me turn to the cons about the cabin. There are certain things about the cabin that scream indifference and unpreparedness about it. First of all, there are certain areas about the cabin that were not properly cleaned, such as some corners of some rooms, the downstairs' bathroom air conditioner's surface, and other areas that had spider nests such as windows. Secondly, technically there is an internet access, however, it is virtually nonexistent, specifically at night. Throughout the day, there is this extremely slow internet that even it takes very long to load the browser, and other simple text messages (WhatsApp for instance) take a long time to be sent. At night, for some mysterious reason, there is no internet access. I can connect to the signal, but it says there is no internet access!  Another thing that was disturbing was the loose door knobs, specifically the bedroom's door and its bathroom's door knobs. I had a problem with these ones because at any minute my son can just wander in the bathroom, so I had to supervise him all day long, instead of being comfortable of the fact that certain doors are locked so he can't just wander in.  Another thing that was also disturbing where some of lights are not working. Take for example the very first outdoor light of the cabin, it wasn't working when we first got to the cabin, and it was a hassle to get inside the cabin with out things at the first night.  Transitioning to maintainance, they were generally nice people, but the service were not satisfactory! I am speaking of course of the two things that I asked them to fix from the very first night I got to the cabin, which were the front door light, and the internet. The light was not fixed until the fourth night (which was my last night in the cabin), and the internet stayed the same till I left the cabin, in which I had access throughout the day, and had no internet access at night!. Overall, I CANNOT return to this cabin until I know for sure that the internet access is fixed. Internet, at least for me, is essential for educational, entertainment, as well as communication purposes. I have to check my email, I need to watch YouTube, etc., and this cannot be done offline. Personally speaking, this con about the cabin is significant enough that it heavily tilts my experience to the negative side. And this is why I said in the beginning my experience was good, BUT.
