Description

Located in Gatlinburg's quiet Hemlock Hills area, Standing Bear Lodge is less than a mile from Rocky Top Sports World-great news if you're in town for an athletic event-and the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Loop. It's also less than five miles from the attractions of downtown. And there's plenty to enjoy within the five-bedroom log home itself, from soaking in the outdoor hot tub to playing pool, air hockey, or foosball in the large game room.

Standing Bear Lodge's five bedrooms, each of which has its own full bathroom, are spread out among the three floors. The downstairs and the main floor each have a bedroom featuring a queen-size bed. The top floor is home to two rooms that sleep four people each in queen-size bunk beds. If you're staying with a team that's playing at Rocky Top, these bunk rooms will really come in handy. The fifth bedroom, also upstairs, is the primary suite. Along with a king-size bed, it boasts a fireplace (so romantic!). All five bedrooms have cabin-perfect log-style furniture and a flat-panel TV. And if you have additional guests, the sofas in the great room and the game room open into queen-size beds, so that the lodge can sleep up to eighteen people in all.

We have a feeling any kids in your group-and even some grown-ups!-would be more than happy to sleep in the downstairs game room. There's something to keep everyone entertained for hours. You can shoot pool at the full-size billiard table, or play foosball or air hockey. The game room has a home-theater area as well, with nine cinema-style chairs and a large screen for watching a movie or a big game.

Up one flight, on the main floor, is the great room and kitchen. With its lustrous wood-planked walls, floor, and ceiling and large windows looking out onto the surrounding woodlands, it's an inviting, open space. Kick back on the sofa and watch TV, curl up in the armchair with a book or a laptop (Standing Bear Lodge has free WiFi), gather by the stacked-stone fireplace for après-ski drinks: You'll feel wonderfully at home.

The dining table can seat eight, and there's room for four more at the kitchen island just a few feet away. The kitchen has all the appliances, cookware, gadgets, and tableware you need to cater for a small crowd-all you have to supply are food and an appetite. There's a park-style charcoal grill outside as well, for cooking up a barbecue or roasting marshmallows under the stars.

Standing Bear Lodge has two spacious decks with rocking chairs. Listen to wrens and warblers while sipping your morning coffee outside in the morning; let the crickets and tree frogs serenade you at night in the moonlight. You can also revel in the fresh mountain air while luxuriating in the outdoor hot tub. There's no better way to end an action-packed day than with a leisurely soak among steamy bubbles while the breeze rustles through the trees.

And if it's action you're looking for, Standing Bear Lodge is the perfect location. It's close to just about everything the area has to offer. In no more than fifteen minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Guinness World Records Museum, thrill rides, an aquarium, restaurants, mini golf, shops, and a tram that carries you up to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement Park. Also close by is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which you can explore on foot, by bike, on horseback, or by car. Just slightly farther afield is the neighboring town of Pigeon Forge, whose attractions include Dollywood, the Titanic Museum, dinner theaters, and outlet shops.

When you stay at Standing Bear Lodge, you'll never be bored-whether you're visiting the local sites or enjoying the amenities of the cabin itself. So what are you waiting for? Book your stay today; we're looking forward to seeing you.

Great Place for a Family Vacation

Our family of 8 adults and 7 children stayed here for 4 nights. We did some hiking in the National Park, shopping in Gatlinburg, Splash Country Water Park, and Dixie Stampede. Everyone loved it here. The cabin worked out well for us and we are talking about coming back next year. Our only regret is that we didn't stay a week!

Repeated visits

We been to same standing bear lodge cabin two years back and we decided this year too. It hasn't changed a bit and addition was a home theatre in the basement. Overall it was good as always and there were lady bugs on the roof which seems common for the fall season, so we could not use the bunk bed room. We have some issue of water clogging and attended by the staff immediately.

Family Vacay

This cabin was perfect for our family of 12 with ages ranging from newborns to 60's. We had an issue with the downstairs heat not working and the wifi but Rachel in the office was amazing and had maintenance and the IT guy there in no time. She also kept in touch with me to make sure I knew what was being done and to confirm everything was taken care of to my satisfaction. The only that could have been better is extra comfy seating on the main floor, there was only 1 couch and chair in the living area. I would definitely recommend this cabin and for anyone planning a visit to Gatlinburg, it was easy to get to and just far enough from town to avoid the traffic.
