So, no matter your skill level, you can find the perfect trip for you.

You can trust that you’ll be in good hands, too, on whatever adventures you choose. This family-owned and operated company has been offering whitewater rafting trips for over 20 years. Their highly trained guides respect and understand the Pigeon River’s power and constantly changing conditions. They have extensive training in river safety and first aid, giving you true peace of mind as you navigate the rapids.

Beyond that, you’re required to wear Coast Guard-approved vests while out on the water. So, even if you don’t know how to swim well, you’ll be safe. Although safety is always a top priority at Rip Roaring Adventures, it doesn’t ever get in the way of having fun. Depending on the trip you select, you’ll work your way through Class I to IV rapids, ranging from easygoing currents to intense, heart-pounding whitewater.

While the thrilling rapids demand focus and energy, make sure to enjoy the scenic views, too. The Smoky Mountains offer beautiful scenery that you won’t want to miss. If you’re lucky, you might even see wildlife coming by the river to quench their thirst or cross to the other side.

You can trust that your guide will point out the sights and even share a bit about the local ecosystem. Be sure to ask any questions you might have before hitting the next set of rapids. The guides have extensive knowledge about the area’s flora and fauna, history, and geology—and they love to educate guests about the beauty of the Smokies.

The rafting options at Rip Roaring Adventures include:

Upper Pigeon River Rafting Trip
The Upper Pigeon River Rafting Trip is a 1.5-hour trip through Class III and IV rapids. Expect to spend about three hours total on this trip, which includes time spent on the bus and changing your clothes. Guests ages eight and up are welcome to join the fun, but there’s only room for up to seven people in each raft.

Lower Pigeon River Float Trip
For a calmer adventure, consider the Lower Pigeon River Float Trip. On this trip, you’ll spend around 1.5 hours moving through Class I and II rapids with up to six other people. You’ll spend about three hours total on this adventure, although you likely won’t ever want it to end.

Upper Pigeon Natural Flow Trip
In the spring and fall months, you can join the fun on the Upper Pigeon Natural Flow Trip. Since the water levels change throughout these seasons, you won’t know the conditions until you get there. You could encounter Class IV rapids or just enjoy a leisurely float down the calm river.

Remember to dress for the season to stay safe and comfortable while on the water. In the winter, it’s all about wearing layers. The warmer summer weather allows you to go in shorts and a T-shirt or even your bathing suit. Even when it’s hot, never wear flip-flops. Instead, wear secure water shoes, tennis shoes, or sandals with heel straps.

-Even if you’re the best rafter around, you’re going to get soaked. So, make sure to bring a change of clothes and shoes plus a towel or two.
