Shaconage (Sha·KON·a·hey) is Cherokee for “Land of Blue Smoke”. Enjoy an amazing stay in the "Land of Blue Smoke" in a cabin with idyllic mountain views in the highly desirable area between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Shaconage Rest is a recently re-furbished 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin that comfortably sleeps 8 with all the amenities you've come to expect --- the cabin has a king size bed (with en suite bath, whirlpool tub and fireplace), a queen bedroom with new log furniture on the main floor with full bath just outside its door, a new queen size sofa bed on the main floor with gas fireplace, and new full size futon bed in the loft game room. The cabin is comfortable for your special honeymoon getaway, or two couples, or families with children. The kitchen is fully-equipped to be able to prepare memorable meals and features updated stainless steel appliances and a new gas grill on the porch. Four to eight can eat at the bar height table (also fabulous for playing games) and 2-3 can eat at the kitchen peninsula. Well appointed with flat screen TV's, WIFI, a pool table, and various video/Xbox games, your family is sure to find the fun and rest that you need on your Smoky Mountain getaway.
Speaking of getting away, head out to the deck to rejoice in the majestic landscape before you. Quietly sip your morning coffee while rocking on the porch. Let your muscles relax with a soak in the hot tub, star gazing over the mountains after a day of exploring the Great Smoky Mountains. Set aside some time to shoot a game of pool, or sip your favorite beverage by the stone gas fireplace. High on the edge of the hillside, Sherwood Forest Resort features a community outdoor swimming pool, about a 60 second drive from the cabin, that you are free to enjoy in summer.
You are only minutes from all that Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have to offer, from Dollywood to Anakeesta (a new family outdoor park) to Ober Gatlinburg. The cabin is just 2 miles southeast of Stoplight 10 in Pigeon Forge. Shaconage Rest is the perfect base for your adventures, giving you the serene restfulness you seek from the mountains but within very close proximity to all of the area attractions. The cabin is only minutes from the restaurants and attractions of Pigeon Forge, including Dollywood -- you're only an easy 15 minutes back to the cabin after the nightly fireworks, most of the drive four lane! Enjoy the many go-kart racetracks, balloon rides and incredible shopping at Tanger Outlet Mall or the Island at Pigeon Forge. Zip along the tree canopies just a couple miles down the road, or try the new tree tops ropes courses nearby for a daring venture.
Ramble down the Spur and in scarcely 10 minutes you can be in the delightful town of Gatlinburg, nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Go a tad further and visit the Glades -- full of exceptional local shops and restaurants in the Great Smoky Mountain Arts and Crafts Community. In Gatlinburg, visit the famed Aquarium, play a game of mini-golf at Davy Crockett Mini Golf for an old Smoky Mountain atmosphere, or take the aerial tram to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement Park, with skating, skiing, snowboarding and tubing in winter, and alpine slide and incredible views in summer. Don't miss the drive into the Park, up to Newfound Gap; the drive alone is incredible, but wow, the views are unreal. Don’t head out of town without stopping at one of the wineries, breweries and distilleries, all offering tours, samples and shopping.
While staying at Shaconage Rest, you are at the doorstep of the Great Smoky Mountains with endless adventures. Explore along the over 800 miles of hiking trails to discover old growth forests, wildflowers, waterfalls, wildlife and breathtaking views. Bring along a lunch and picnic at Abrams Falls, take a hike to Clingman's Dome, trout fish in one of the countless cool water streams, or auto-tour the scenic byways, including Cades Cove. In the late spring nights gather to see the firefly show (google that!) and in the fall enjoy the vibrant autumn foliage, no matter the season there is more to explore. Whitewater rafting is close by, as well as river tubing in summer on the Pigeon River. Try horseback riding on top of the mountains, or go below... to Forbidden Caverns, once used as shelter by Indians hundreds of years ago and later for moonshine running.
Come and experience this very special place -- Shaconage Rest. We look forward to hosting you.
