Whispering Secrets is ideal for the couple who likes having friends and family about during the day but wants to spend their nights alone. Perched atop a wooded ridge, the log cabin sleeps just 2 people, yet it offers plenty of space for sharing meals and good times with friends and family.
A spacious 2-floor home, Whispering Secrets has 2 rear decks and a front porch that look out over the treetops and Cove Creek. You can enjoy the burbling of the creek and the serenade of songbirds from comfortable deck rockers or, better yet, the steamy bubbles of the deck’s hot tub. Because the cabin is somewhat off the beaten track, you’ll feel as if you’re king or queen of all you survey.
The great room makes up most of the main floor. It manages to be both airy and cozy, with a lofty beamed cathedral ceiling and classic cabin furnishings. After a day of hiking or biking, you’ll love nothing better than snuggling on the perfectly cushioned leather couch by the stone-surround gas fireplace and binge-watching your favorite Netflix shows on the flat-screen TV. There’s an even larger flat-panel TV in the upstairs den, if you want to have friends over to watch the big game. And if you just want to spend some quiet time reading or surfing the web via the free WiFi, it’s tough to say which is more comfortable: the oversize armchair in the den or the leather armchair in the great room.
The great room’s dining table seats 4, though it’s especially delightful when set for 2. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, and tableware. Whether you’re preparing a gourmet romantic dinner à la the Barefoot Contessa or heating leftovers from the previous night’s restaurant meal, you’ll find all the supplies you need. There’s a charcoal grill on the deck too. From trout you reeled in yourself to frankfurters from the supermarket, it’ll taste even better when seasoned with the fresh mountain breeze.
Once you see Whispering Secrets’ bedroom, you might want to spend most of your stay there. The king-size bed is so sumptuous… as is the jetted tub in the corner of the wood-clad room. The bedroom also has a large flat-panel TV and a door that opens directly onto the main level deck. Stargaze with your sweetie as owls hoot in the distance, then step back inside for a languorous soak among the massaging jets of water before nestling under the covers… sounds perfect, doesn’t it? The bedroom has its own private bathroom, and there’s another full bathroom on the main floor as well.
The enchantment of Whispering Secrets extends beyond the cabin itself. The grounds include a covered gazebo and a large covered pavilion tailor-made for picnicking with family and friends. There’s another picnic table by Cove Creek as well. It’s especially idyllic in autumn, when the foliage is a dazzling medley of crimsons and golds.
The area immediately around Whispering Secrets has lovely, leafy walking trails. For a true sense of nature’s grandeur, however, you’ll want to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; its waterfalls, mountain trails, and wildlife are less than 15 minutes away. Other attractions are nearby as well. In less than 20 minutes you can drive to the Pigeon Forge Parkway, home of the Titanic Museum, the Tanger outlet mall, dinner theaters, amusements, and more. Dollywood, Parrot Mountain and Gardens, and downtown Gatlinburg are just a few minutes further.
