You can relish the views, the crisp mountain breeze, the singing of warblers during the day, and the chirruping of crickets and tree frogs at night from Burly Bear’s 2 expansive decks. Kick back on one of the rockers with a book and a drink. Savor a meal at the outdoor dining area. And perhaps most idyllic of all, luxuriate in the lower deck’s hot tub while gazing up at the star-studded night sky.
Large windows enable you to savor the scenery while you’re inside Burly Bear as well. The downstairs game room, for instance, has an entire wall of windows. The only downside is that the view might distract you while you’re shooting pool at the full-size billiard table or playing rummy at the card table—but that’s a small price to pay for being surrounded by nature’s glory. The game room also has comfortable leather sofas so that everyone can hang out together to watch TV or chat. And there’s a wet bar complete with microwave so that you don’t have to head upstairs to the kitchen whenever you want a cold drink or a snack.
The kitchen is part of the spacious great room on the main floor. You’ll find 2 more leather sofas up here, along with another TV. In winter the stacked-stone fireplace will cast a golden glow over the lustrous wood-planked walls, floor, and cathedral ceiling; in summer the ceiling fan will add a welcome breeze to complement—or instead of—the central air-conditioning. The great room also benefits from a wealth of windows. You can gaze out at the mountains while eating in the dining area: The log-style table seats 6, and another 4 people can sidle up to the adjacent breakfast bar. You can even admire the vistas while cooking in the kitchen, which is equipped with all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you could possibly need. For good measure, Burly Bear has an outdoor grill as well. If you reel in some trout from one of the nearby streams, grill it for a true Smoky Mountain feast.
Burly Bear has 4 bedrooms and a bonus sleeping loft. The master bedroom is a true delight, with a king-size bed and doors that open directly onto the deck, so you can slip outside late at night to stargaze without waking the others. The master bathroom includes a jetted tub to make a night in even more pampering.
Two of the remaining bedrooms each have a queen-size bed. The 4th bedroom, just off the game room, features queen-size bunk beds, so that 4 people can sleep here. And the loft’s sleeping area can sleep another 3 people, on a twin bunk bed over a full-size bed. This space doubles as a charming reading nook—wait till you see the views!
Burly Bear is located in the Homestead Estates area of Wear Valley. The community boasts wide paved roads for easy driving, along with private walking trails and picnic areas. Should you want to explore the terrain farther afield, head out to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park: The cabin is just several miles from a little-used entrance near Cades Cove, which boasts waterfalls, historic buildings, and of course, miles of hiking trails.
When you stay at Burly Bear, the living is easy and the surroundings are beautiful. If you are in need of R&R or want to spend quality time with family or friends, this is the cabin for you. So be good to yourself and book your stay today. We’re looking forward to seeing you.

Burly Bear view is stunning!
We had a group of 14 plus a few dogs and the cabin was perfect for our stay! The view off the back deck was absolutely beautiful and easily my favorite part of the trip. Everything was as described in the cabin details except the master bathtub is not hooked up with hot water which was a disappointment. The hot water knob came right off in my hand and wasn't even connected to the pipes. We loved our stay though and would absolutely go back. Location is close to some wonderful hikes and very near town with every amenity you could need.Would recommend to others? Yes
Thank you for the positive review of Burly Bear! I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I am not sure why the bath tub had the hot water issue, but we are dispatching maintenance now to correct this. Thanks and come back soon!
