Freeze Your Toes Off (for a Good Cause) at the February Freeze 5k!

Does being outside in sub-40 degree weather make you feel alive? Do you prefer ice skating and snowshoeing to bonfires and fireside chats? Do you avoid hot fudge sundaes because the fudge warms up your ice cream too much?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, and you plan to visit the Smoky Mountains this winter, the February Freeze 5k is the race for you.

The February Freeze 5K Run and Walk will be held in Pigeon Forge on Saturday, February 20, 2016 with a start time of 5 p.m. for both the running and walking portions of the race. The course location is across from Patriot Park.

Among many perks of participating, you’ll be supporting the American Cancer Society, and you’ll get to enjoy the gorgeous mountain scenery as the course twists its way through the heart of the Smokies.

Registration and Cost

You can sign up for the race for $25 from now until February 19. Race-day registration is $30. To register, choose your preferred method:

Support the Sevier County Relay for Life

Exercise with fun and friends for a good cause? We call that a win-win. All money raised from race registration fees goes to the Sevier County Government Relay for Life Team, which benefits the American Cancer Society.

Fun, Fast Race with a Great Atmosphere

Race organizers call this a “fun and fast” course; it emphasizes the surrounding natural beauty and twinkling Winterfest lights of the Pigeon Forge area. The starting line is on Butler Street in the Old Mill District. From there, the course heads to Teaster Lane, back to Little Pigeon Greenway, and finishes on Butler Street.

Results and Awards

After the race, you’ll be able to find your race results on the Endurance Sports Website. Live race results will be available on runsignup.com. Awards will be given to both walkers and runners with the top three runners receiving top honors (top overall finishers will not be available for age/gender group awards).

T-Shirts

Register by February 15 and receive the official February Freeze 5k long-sleeve T-shirt (wear it to run the race or out to dinner with friends afterward; bragging is 100% allowed!) Registrations received after February 15 may pick up their shirts on race day (while supplies last). All shirts must be picked up on race day; no shirts will be mailed.

Leave Fido at Home

No rollerblades, strollers, bicycles, or dogs are permitted to race, but feel free to bring a refreshment if you like!
