Lighted displays and driving tours are a big deal throughout the Smoky Mountains. Pigeon Forge joins the fun with remarkable lighting that is visible not only throughout the holiday season, but also in January and even February. These displays are visible on foot — but with so many available, you’ll find it a lot easier to take it all in from the comfort of your vehicle.

Not sure where to start? Stop by the Pigeon Forge Welcome Center or the Pigeon Forge Trolley Office to grab a map. Set aside plenty of time to drive through Pigeon Forge; with so many displays at so many locations, it takes some time to witness it all without rushing.

Yama-Con: Experience the Excitement of the Region’s Biggest Anime Convention

Location: LeConte Center, Pigeon Forge
Dates: November 30-December 2

Yama means mountain in Japanese, so Yama-Con is the perfect name for a convention that boasts a remarkable mountain backdrop. Appreciation for the Smokies can be seen throughout the event. It’s especially evident in the choice of mascot: a fox girl known as Yami who was selected to reflect the prevalence of foxes in the region. Yami and her sidekick (a raccoon known as Yama-Coon) can be spotted mingling with attendees throughout the duration of the event.

If you love cosplay, you’ll be impressed by the range of outfits on display during Yama-Con’s costume contest, which includes categories for both novices and professionals. Check out the variety of videos available through the Animated Music Video (AMV) League, which brings entertaining dramas, comedies, and even romances to Pigeon Forge.

Christmas at the Titanic Celebration: Edwardian Sophistication Awaits

Have you ever wondered how past generations celebrated Christmas? The Titanic Museum Attraction offers intriguing insights into a historic tradition: spending the holiday season aboard a luxury cruise ship. Decked out to reflect Edwardian style, the museum comes alive with lights and festive decor. You’ll want to have your camera or smartphone handy from the moment you enter the attraction; right away, you’ll spot Santa’s reindeer by the entrance. While this is a ticketed attraction, the gift shop is free to enter and open to the public.

Christmas in the Smokies Bluegrass Festival: Several Days of Toe-Tapping Holiday Music

If you love bluegrass music and you love holiday tunes, you’ll be in paradise as you dance in your seat to the best arrangements during Pigeon Forge’s Christmas in the Smokies Bluegrass Festival. Depending on when you drop in, you might catch Deeper Shade of Blue, All-Stars of Bluegrass, or other genre favorites.

If you’re free throughout the week, invest in a four-day festival pass — you will more than get your money’s worth as you take in dozens of impressive acts. Otherwise, single-day passes are also available. Keep in mind that, while the official event website maintains a detailed schedule, performance times are subject to change.

Participate in Family-Friendly Activities Well Before Midnight During the New Year’s Eve Celebration at Jellystone

At Jellystone, New Year’s Eve is more than a midnight countdown — it’s an all-day affair. If you’re not enthusiastic about staying up until midnight, you are welcome to take part in local festivities that end by 9:30 pm. Earlier in the day, you and your kids can join Yogi for a special New Year’s craft. Return at 7 pm for a family movie. This will be immediately followed by a countdown and a balloon drop.

Dance ‘Til You Drop As Midnight Approaches At The Island

Bid farewell to 2018 and kick off 2019 in style at a top Pigeon Forge destination. The Island offers one of the region’s most enjoyable parties, complete with music, dancing, and giveaways. This year, country artist Jackie Lee joins the fun for a show that will have you dancing your heart out.

Not into country music? Not a problem — Orlando rap collective Free Daps will also make a highly-anticipated appearance. Stick around for games and giveaways all evening. As midnight approaches, a countdown will cap off a night of excitement — followed by a wonderful fireworks show.
