Some travelers choose lodgings based solely on location, using where they stay as a base camp for all of their planned activities. But for others, where you stay ought to be more than simply where you put your head at night. If that sounds like you, if you like to book at lodgings that have a lot to offer, then when it comes to Gatlinburg, you’re apt to love a stay at Adventure Bound Camping Resort.

First off, this is a place that has both location and amenities. You’ll find this camping resort along US Highway 321 and just a short drive from the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This campground and cabin rental location also offers easy access to area attractions like Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Cherokee National Forest.

Guests of Adventure Bound Camping Resort also have a lot of choices when it comes to what style of stay they want. Towing or driving an RV? You can choose from simple water and electric sites to those with full 50 amp hook-ups, and you can even get them so that your campsite backs up to a creek for a waterfront view and camping experience. Plan on setting up a tent? This campground has some incredibly nice tent decks sites that are ideal both for traditional tents as well as pop-up tent campers. These tent decks featured covered pavilion areas so that you can stay nice and dry throughout your stay. Not bringing any camping supplies? No problem! You can rent either fully outfitted cabins or give the camper experience a test ride with one of their premium RV rentals.

Now, let’s get down to the amenities! There is plenty to keep your attention at this campground. This is a very family-friendly location that will especially appeal to those camping with children. Here, you will find an expansive pool, a full water slide (down the hills!), fishing areas, a game room, a gaga ball court, an outdoor amphitheater and so much more. Many of these locations also double as entertainment sites where big community events will take place and all campers are invited. For example, summer weekends at the pool are often home to movie nights in the evenings, and the outdoor amphitheater frequently hosts jam sessions.

In addition to all of these fantastic activity-oriented amenities, Adventure Bound Camping Resort has all of the basic amenities you’d expect out of a modern campground. They have full showers and bathrooms that are kept impressively clean given the large number of campers that come through. Guests also have access to onsite laundry facilities, WiFi (though this is best accessed closest to the front office area), and golf cart rentals. There is also a campground store that stocks all of the camping essentials you really need (think ice, firewood, cooking supplies, etc.) so that if you want to just stay put, you happily can.

Overall, Adventure Bound Camping Resort is a lively place with a ton of activities and amenities geared for families. While this might not be an ideal place for those wanting a more peaceful, nature-oriented camping experience, it is a great spot for those wanting a community feel surrounded by Appalachian landscapes.

Insider Tips:
-Make sure to check out CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains Zipline Tour if you’re looking for an added adventure during your stay at Adventure Bound Camping Resort. This attraction is conveniently located just down the street from the campground and offers two world-class zipline tours that take guests soaring across the forested hills.
-Bringing dogs? Adventure Bound Camping Resort is dog friendly, allowing all guests to bring up to two pets per reservation site. Unfortunately, while this campground loves the dog, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is known for being exceptionally un-dog-friendly. Many of the national park’s trails are fully closed to dogs and other pets, with hefty fines for those who try and circumvent the posted rules. The good news is that Cherokee National Forest, which is located just a short distance east of the camping resort, is dog friendly with plenty of great hiking trails to explore.
