A Wolf’s Den is a one-of-a-kind log cabin for a one-of-a-kind Smoky Mountain vacation. The recently built 3-story home marries modern-day luxuries—a sauna! an outdoor hot tub! an indoor Jacuzzi! —with time-honored rustic charm. And with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths, it can host as many as 12 overnight guests in both comfort and style.
Cocooned among lush trees and shrubs with a view of the Smoky Mountains, A Wolf’s Den is only 15 minutes from the excitement of downtown Gatlinburg. Yet it seems blissfully removed from the hubbub. As you drive up to the cabin you’ll pass the trail to lovely Misty Falls. Once you pull into the paved driveway, which has room for several vehicles, you’ll feel as if you’ve arrived at your own private paradise.
The front door, which displays a stained-glass window, leads you into the top floor’s great room. The hardwood floors, cathedral ceiling, and caribou head mounted above the stone-surround gas fireplace give the room a welcoming mountain-lodge ambiance. The spacious leather couch and roomy armchairs ensure there is plenty of seating so that everyone can gather together to watch TV, play games, or surf the web via the free WiFi.
The great room encompasses the dining area. Handcrafted of wood reclaimed from an old barn, the table easily seats 8, while 2 more can sit just a few feet away at the kitchen island. The kitchen itself is equipped with a full array of appliances, cookware, and tableware. There’s also a charcoal grill outside.
On the top floor is the master bedroom with a private bathroom. Like the other bedrooms, it includes a king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, and ample storage. Setting it apart are stained-glass windows and a jetted tub. A leisurely soak is a perfect way to end an action-packed day… and begin a romantic evening.
Also on the upper level is the home’s unique half-bath, affectionately dubbed the “indoor outhouse.” Featuring electrified lanterns, walls planked with wood reclaimed from the same barn as the wood that made up the dining table, and a sink constructed from a log, a bowl, and a pump handle, it’s unlike any other powder room you’ve seen!
Down one flight of stairs, on the 2nd floor of A Wolf’s Den, are 2 more bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and private bathroom. One of the bedrooms opens onto the middle deck, where you’ll find the outdoor hot tub. Outside the bedrooms is a den where up to 4 more people can sleep: 2 on the twin-size bunk beds and 2 more on the sofa bed. The kids will love making this space their own. The convenient washer and dryer are on the 2nd floor also.
The 4th bedroom (with the 4th king-size bed) and bathroom are on the lower level. Also down here is the cabin’s most distinctive space, the game room. Decorated like an antique barn with reclaimed-wood walls and a tin ceiling, the game room features a full-sized pool table, a large flat-screen TV, a surround-sound stereo system, a barrel-style table, and plenty of chairs. When you need a break from shooting pool or playing cards, stroll down the hall to the sauna, constructed entirely of cedar planks. Between the sauna, the hot tub, and the Jacuzzi, A Wolf’s Den is sure to leave you feeling pampered.
Each of A Wolf Den’s 3 stories has its own rear deck spanning the width of the cabin. While the middle deck has the hot tub, the upper and lower decks are outfitted with rockers, tables, and handcrafted chairs. Start your day sipping coffee out here while watching the morning mist rise from the mountains; end your evening listening to the chirping crickets and tree frogs beneath the star-studded sky. This is what a Smoky Mountain vacation is all about!
