With 3 en-suite master bedrooms, one on each floor, Papa Bear’s Den is as well suited for 3 couples vacationing together as it is for a family. In fact, because the log cabin has 2 sofa beds, it can sleep up to 10 people in all, enabling it to accommodate even 2 families.
The main floor of Papa Bear’s Den is home to the living/dining area. With large windows, French doors opening onto the wraparound deck, and a towering cathedral ceiling, it’s an airy, spacious room where everyone can hang out to watch TV, play games, or surf the web via the free WiFi. In winter the stone-surround fireplace adds to the warm, welcoming vibe, casting a golden glow over the wood-planked walls and ceiling.
The cabin’s convenient location means there are loads of restaurants just a few minutes away. When you want to eat in, however, you’ll find that Papa Bear’s Den has just about everything you need; all you have to supply is the food and an appetite. The indoor dining table seats 6; there’s also a log-style table on the deck for dining out among the mountain breezes and the sun-dappled trees. The kitchen is equipped with everything from a full-size refrigerator/freezer and oven/stove to a microwave and a blender, along with plenty of cookware and tableware. In addition, there’s a park-style charcoal grill outside, perfect for barbecuing burgers or toasting marshmallows.
The main floor’s deck is large enough to house a dining table, gliders, and perhaps best of all, a hot tub, with plenty of room to spare. We can’t decide which is better: Soaking in the hot tub immediately after coming home from a day of hiking or biking, or luxuriating among the steamy bubbles late at night in the silvery moonlight. No need to choose one or the other: You can do both!
Downstairs is the game room. When you’re not shooting pool you can play rummy at the card table or stretch out on the sofa and watch TV. The sofa is one of 2 in Papa Bear’s Den (the other is in the living area) that opens into a bed for 2. The kids will clamor to make this their bedroom: Who wouldn’t want a pool table in their sleeping quarters?
Each of the 3 bedrooms features a king-size bed, a TV with DVD player, plenty of storage, and a ceiling fan to help lull you to sleep. (Papa Bear’s Den has central air-conditioning as well.) There’s a full bathroom for each bedroom, which will make everyone’s morning routine much easier. When you arrive at the cabin you’ll find more than enough clean towels for all 3 bathrooms, the beds already made up, and extra bedding ready and waiting. Not only can you leave your linens at home, but you can pack lighter than usual, as Papa Bear’s Den has its own washer and dryer. For once you can return home from vacation with a suitcase full of clean clothes!
Papa Bear’s Den is located in the 43-acre Black Bear Falls Log Home Community. The grounds include towering trees and natural streams you’ll love exploring. In summer you can take advantage of the resort’s heated adult and child pools; the latter has a shower feature that will delight your little ones. After dry off on a poolside chaise and revel in the beautiful surroundings.
There’s even more natural splendor to relish close by. Papa Bear’s Den is less than 15 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Even closer is downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Anakeesta outdoor entertainment park, the Guinness World Records Adventure, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, arcades, restaurants, shops, and a tram that carries you over the town to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area. And less than 10 minutes from the cabin is the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, an 8-mile trail of more than 120 galleries, studios, and shops.
Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? So book your stay today… before someone else beats you to it!
