Description

You probably expect a lot from a cabin named Smoky Haven. Fortunately, this one delivers -- The three-story, three-bedroom log home features a game room, a home theater room, an outdoor hot tub. There are three large covered decks that look out toward the Great Smoky Mountains-and it's less than ten minutes from attractions-packed downtown Gatlinburg.

The open-plan living/dining/kitchen area makes up most of Smoky Haven's main floor. Large windows let in plenty of light, showing off the wood-planked walls, ceiling, and floor to perfection. On chilly winter evenings the stone-surround gas fireplace adds to the welcoming ambiance; in warmer weather, the ceiling fan will help you keep cool (as will the central air-conditioning). The furnishings-leather seating, iron-and-wood tables-are rustic yet refined. Whether you're watching a movie on the large flat-panel TV, playing charades, or surfing the web via the free WiFi, you'll feel right at home.

The dining area can seat ten people: six at the table and another four at the breakfast bar. The breakfast bar doubles as additional kitchen counter space-and once you see Smoky Haven's well-equipped kitchen, you're going to want to cook at least some meals in. Shining stainless-steel appliances, gleaming stone counters, plenty of cookware and tableware: All you have to supply is the food and an appetite.

The top floor of Smoky Haven includes a spacious game room. The full-size pool table takes center stage, but there's also a game arcade and a pub-style table perfect for a rummy marathon. And once you sink into this room's leather sofa, you might never want to get back up! For another entertainment option, head downstairs to the home theater room. Seven people can kick back in cinema-style seats, complete with cup holders, to watch a movie on a large screen.

While there's plenty to keep you happily busy indoors, chances are you'll want to be outside as much as possible, admiring the lush woodlands and the mountains beyond. During the day you can watch falcons and eagles soar across the sky while chickadees, wrens, and warblers try to outsing one another; at night the owls and whip-poor-wills will serenade as you pick out constellations in the star-studded sky. Smoky Haven's rockers and porch swing are idyllic spots for relishing nature's beauty. Even better, perhaps, is the upper deck's hot tub. Especially after a day of hiking, skiing, fishing, or rafting, a soak among its massaging jets of water will feel so pampered.

Smoky Haven's three bedrooms are pampering as well. Each includes a TV and a private full bathroom. Two of the bedrooms feature a luxurious king-size bed, while the third has a queen. Additional guests can sleep in either the living area or the great room: Each has a sofa that opens into a bed for two, enabling the cabin to sleep up to ten people. In addition, the home has a convenient half-bath-and speaking of convenience, it includes a washer and a dryer too.

Most convenient of all is Smoky Haven's location. In less than ten minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Anakeesta outdoor entertainment complex, the Guinness World Records Adventure, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, mini golf, arcades, restaurants, distilleries, shops, and more. Equally close is the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, an eight-mile trail of more than 120 shops, galleries, and studios. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is only fifteen minutes away.

Whether you're visiting with friends or on a family vacation, in search of adventure or of some much-needed downtime, you'll find Smoky Haven to be a true haven within the Smoky Mountain region. Book your stay today; we look forward to seeing you!

Really nice, but...

The property was beautiful. We enjoyed the updated kitchen, bathrooms, etc. I also like the cabin was near other cabins. I would not have wanted to stay in a secluded area. I took off a star because it was advertised that we would have WiFi, and that did not happen. I called the first day of our stay to report the lack of WiFi. I was told that it would be handled but it was not. I was disappointed that I paid for a service that was not provided. Also, bring extra towels and washcloths because there are only enough for a couple days.

Meh

The mountains were beautiful, but our neighbors threw a big party Friday night until at least 2am and it was way too much. It ruined the experience.
