Although Above the Clouds II can sleep eleven people—and a four-legged friend or 2—when you have a full house, it will never feel crowded. In addition to four bedrooms, the three-story lodge includes a huge wraparound deck with a hot tub, a game room, a great room, and a spacious sunroom. There’s plenty of space for everyone to gather together, as well as plenty of spaces where you can retreat for some private time.
The sunroom is the most spectacular of the rooms. Walls of windows allow you to admire the majestic Smoky Mountains whether you’re sprawled out on a sofa or eating at the dining table, which seats six. The cathedral ceiling adds to the airy, laid-back ambience. The sunroom includes a desk, in case you need to catch up on work or email during your stay; Above the Clouds II has free WiFi as well.
A second dining area is in the great room. This pub-style table seats four, and there’s room for three more at the adjacent breakfast bar, which separates the dining area from the kitchen. Open and well equipped, the kitchen has all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you’ll need, whether you’re reheating leftovers from the previous night’s restaurant meal or cooking an entire Thanksgiving dinner from scratch.
Thanks to the open layout of the great room, even while you’re creating a culinary masterpiece you can still join in on the fun in the living area. As well as two sumptuous sofas, the living area includes an armoire that holds the TV, the VCR/DVD player, and the radio/CD player. On brisk winter evenings you’ll want to gather by the fireplace, hot cocoa or Irish coffee in hand.
The downstairs game room has its own fireplace, along with a regulation-size pool table. If shooting pool isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy hanging out down here. There are numerous board games to choose from, a TV, and a plush couch tailor-made for stretching out on.
Of the four bedrooms, three are furnished with a king-size bed, and all four have their own television. The primary bedrooms are large and elegantly furnished, with ample storage and lustrous wood-planked walls and beamed ceilings. One of the upstairs bedrooms opens directly onto a deck, so that you can slip outside to watch the sunrise without waking any of the others. The fourth bedroom is a cozy nook with bunk beds that the kids are sure to love. In addition, Above the Clouds II has a futon that sleeps two and a sofa chair for one more guest.
The deck is just as inviting as the interior of Above the Clouds II. Wooden rockers let you watch falcons soar above the mountains and listen to larks and sparrows in perfect comfort. Little ones will have a blast with the deck’s playhouse. A roomy table enables you to dine alfresco; the crisp mountain breeze will transform even a simple meal of soup and sandwiches into a special-occasion feast. For true luxury, end your evening with a soak in the hot tub beneath the star-studded sky. It just might be a highlight of your vacation.
Because Above the Clouds II is located at the end of a private cul-de-sac, it feels blissfully secluded. Yet, it’s actually conveniently close to myriad activities and attractions. Since the lodge is within the upscale Cobbly Nob community, when you stay here in the summer you’ll have free access to two pool areas. Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by champion Gary Player, is less than a mile away. In less than fifteen minutes, you can drive to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Smoky Mountains Arts & Crafts Community. And in just twenty, minutes you can be in downtown Gatlinburg, home to thrill rides, an aquarium, arcades, restaurants, and more.
In short, Above the Clouds II has the serenity, comfort, convenience, and beauty to ensure an idyllic vacation. Don’t miss out; book your stay today.
