A hot tub with a glorious view of the Great Smoky Mountains. A pool table and a multigame arcade for after-dinner entertainment. Free access to a swimming pool in the summer, and easy access to the area’s most popular attractions year-round. If that sounds like a dream getaway, you’re in luck: Chimney Top Overlook can make that dream come true.
A two-story log cabin with four en-suite bedrooms, Chimney Top Overlook sleeps up to fourteen people, so you can enjoy the good times and make memories with friends and family alike. It boasts not one but two decks that span the width of the home, enabling you to gaze out at Mount LeConte, towering old-growth woodlands, and the seemingly endless sky. And the lodge’s layout—plus the double-height wall of windows in the great room—lets you savor the scenery while indoors too.
The decks have rockers—a mountain-cabin must!—and other seating so that you can kick back amid the sunshine and fresh breezes. Each deck has a patio table as well for alfresco dining; there’s nothing like a soundtrack of songbirds to transform even takeout pizza into a feast. Your favorite way to savor the natural beauty of the surroundings, though, maybe while luxuriating in the lower deck’s hot tub.
Each floor has a spacious common room where everyone can hang out together. The downstairs game room offers not only a full-size pool table but also a two-player multi-game arcade table and a plasma TV with premium cable channels and surround sound. There’s plenty of room for the kids to sprawl out with their toys on the carpet, and you’ll love stretching out on the sofas with a good book—or to take a nap.
The game room has a handsome gas fireplace, as does the great room on the main floor. There’s no better way to warm yourself up after an afternoon on the slopes than with a hot chocolate or mulled cider in front of the fireplace. The great room has its own large flat-screen TV as well, plus plenty of comfortable seating.
The great room’s dining area can host fourteen people so that everyone can enjoy meals together. A large dining table seats ten people with ease, and the adjacent breakfast bar can accommodate another four. If you were planning to eat most of your meals out, the airy, well-equipped kitchen might change your mind. Stainless-steel appliances, black granite counters, cookware, tableware—you’ll find everything you need, whether you’re preparing a holiday dinner or whipping up a batch of margaritas to sip on the deck as the sun sets. There’s also a park-style charcoal grill outside, where you can toast marshmallows while pointing out the constellations in the night sky.
Once it’s time to turn in, you’ll find the bedrooms furnished with sweet dreams in mind. All four bedrooms have a TV and their own full bathroom. Three of the bedrooms are furnished with a lofty king-size bed. The fourth has two queen-size beds. If there’s a family with small children in your group, they might want to claim this room; otherwise you can put several of the kids in there—every night will feel like a slumber party! What’s more, the great room’s sofa and one of the game room sofas open into beds for two.
Because Chimney Top Overlook is part of the Black Bear Falls community, in the summer you’ll have free access to its heated adult and kids’ pools. And, year-round you can take advantage of the cabin’s proximity to everything that Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have to offer. In less than fifteen minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community.
