More than just a place to sleep and shower, Bear Pause is a retreat. Not only does the cabin have four en-suite bedrooms, but it also features an outdoor hot tub, pool and foosball tables, and two large decks for kicking back and reveling in nature’s beauty.

The great room is a bright, inviting space for relaxing with family and friends. The sunlight pouring in through the wall of windows shows off the wood-planked floor, walls, and ceiling to lustrous effect. The windows also let you gaze out at the towering oak trees while curled up in an armchair or sprawled out on the huge sectional sofa. There’s room for everyone to gather to watch a movie on the 46” HDTV with cable and DVD player. After a day of skiing or snowshoeing, you’ll love gathering by the stone-surround electric fireplace while sipping hot cocoa or mulled cider, or maybe just curling up with your tablet to take advantage of the free WiFi.

The dining area easily seats eight, so after your family meal you can bring out your board games or cards and enjoy a family game night. Or maybe you’d rather head downstairs to the game room. There you can choose between shooting pool at the full-size billiard table, playing foosball, or watching the big game on the 52” HDTV. The room has a pub-style game table as well—poker marathon, anyone? And there’s plenty of space on the carpeted floor for the kids to spread out with their Legos and sticker books.

Another option is to head out to the lower deck for a soak in the hot tub. Is there anything more relaxing than listening to songbirds and the mountain breeze rustling through the trees while luxuriating among steamy jets of water? We certainly don’t think so—though sitting on one of the deck rockers and looking up at the star-studded night sky certainly comes close!

The relaxing, restorative ambiance continues in the four bedrooms. Two have king-size beds, and the other two have queen-size beds. All four, though, are designed with comfort in mind: wood-paneled walls and ceilings, rustic yet refined furnishings, TVs, private bathrooms, views of the surrounding woodlands. Sweet dreams really are made of this! Another two people can sleep on the game room’s sofa bed, and given the amenities of that room, we’re sure you’ll find plenty of volunteers to make it their bedroom!

Bear Pause’s open, modern kitchen is equipped with stainless-steel appliances (including a dishwasher), cookware, keurig, and tableware. Even if you plan to eat most of your meals at one of the many nearby restaurants, you can’t beat the convenience of having a fridge to store juice boxes and bottles of wine and a microwave for making popcorn for movie night.

Other conveniences include a washer and dryer downstairs—it’s great to return home from vacation with a suitcase full of clean clothes!—and unlimited long-distance calls. We’ll provide plenty of clean towels and extra bedding, and the beds themselves will be perfectly made up by the time you arrive. If you need a nap or a shower after your travels, you can go right ahead!

Bear Pause’s location provides easy access to the attractions of both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area, Gatlinburg Golf Course, mini golf, the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop—all that and more are just a short drive away.

Whether you’re planning an action-packed vacation or looking forward to low-key retreat with family and friends, Bear Pause makes a delightful home away from home. Go ahead, book your stay today. We look forward to seeing you!

Maid Service Not Ordered

The property was nice. The electronic key did not work and maid service was forgotten to be arranged. The place was a mess. Wasted 3 hours of our time and the family talked about our arrival EVERY DAY. Jackson Homes has yet to offer any compensation for our trouble. We had people on there first EVER vacation and this was not good.

Not the best but we enjoyed

The cabin and location is nice over all but it wasn't very clean. The shower curtain in one of the bedrooms was covered in mildew and in another bathroom the floor was soft from water damage I assume. Very limited kitchen pots and pans that are worth using and no kitchen towels. So bring the whole kitchen sink from home if you plan on cooking! The hot tub was a mess. Not sure what the deal was with it. Just be careful it's either really cold or boiling. Despite all that me and my family had a nice time and enjoyed the stay in the cabin. It is very open and roomy.

Bear Paused the wifi

Really enjoyed the stay, plenty of room to move around even with 8 people. The wifi was horrible, only 2-3 people could be using it at a time and had to be reset multiple times a day. The kitchen essentials could have been a little better, there was no salt & pepper and only 2 trash bags. Overall I would stay again but would come much more prepared.
