Bear Necessities can sleep up to eight people. The primary suite epitomizes cabin style with all sorts of modern comforts. The spacious bed, crafted of logs that echo the wood walls, rafters and cathedral ceiling, is flanked by nightstands with lamps so that one of you can read in bed while the other drifts to sleep. Other features include a flat-screen TV, expansive windows that let in plenty of morning sunlight and evening breezes, and perhaps best of all, a jetted tub right in the privacy of your room. When you're in need of some quiet time, you'll know exactly where to go! Prefer showers? The primary bath has one of those too.
The loft area upstairs has queen-size bunk beds, so another four people can sleep up there. The kids will rush to stake their claim, as the loft is also home to the game room, complete with Multicade arcade game, pool table, another flat-panel TV and a sound system. There's a full bathroom up there as well, making the loft a suite unto itself-one with spectacular views of the densely forested lands surrounding the house.
Have still more guests to accommodate? No worries! The marvelously comfortable sofa in the living room converts to a bed for two. Guests who sleep here have the advantage of a 51-inch TV and the stone-surround gas fireplace-just the thing for chilly winter evenings, or for creating a romantic ambiance.
Speaking of romance, check out the large hot tub on the back deck! Of course, a long soak is also a fabulous way to ease tired muscles after a day of hiking or biking, golfing or walking the grounds of Dollywood-activities that are all within easy reach of Bear Necessities. If you're not in the mood for a hot-tub session, you can relax on one of the deck's rocking chairs. You just might drift off to sleep while listening to the leafy tree branches sway in the breeze.
Another of the deck's amenities is a gas grill. If you reel in some trout on a fishing expedition, you can grill it right out here. Everything, from hot dogs to corn on the cob, tastes better when cooked outdoors!
There's a fully equipped kitchen indoors as well. Whether you plan to prepare a multi-course holiday feast or simply brew coffee and make PB and J sandwiches, you'll find all the cookware, tableware and appliances you need. The extensive counter also serves as a breakfast bar, if you'd rather enjoy a quick snack there rather than at the nearby dining table, which comfortably seats six people.
If your idea of a vacation entails no cooking at all, you'll be happy to know that Bear Necessities is just a five-minute drive from downtown Gatlinburg, where you can dig into a juicy steak one night, barbecue ribs the next, and everything from pizza to pancakes in between. Besides eateries, Gatlinburg offers mini golf, an aquarium and plenty of other attractions. Only slightly further afield is Pigeon Forge, home to more restaurants as well as Dollywood, go karting, zip lining and more. And let's not forget the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the country's most popular, with its hiking trails, waterfalls, wildlife and wildflowers.

Enjoyable but not carefree
The cabin was great except for a couple issues. We were without a grill for the first couple days due to no propane. The hot tub seemed to be leaking when the jets were turned on. Maintenance was made aware. The power button on the jet tub was missing. We found it behind the tree decoration. We also felt that the upstairs was too warm. It could definitely use a ceiling fan. We had to buy a fan so my daughter could sleep.Would recommend to others? Yes
Great mountain cabin
I love how-hassle free the process was. I felt like I had all the information needed for a smooth self- check in. I did not expect the steep elbow turns getting up the mountain, some without guard rails. Overall, the accommodations were comfortable, the unit clean for the most part. I wasn't crazy about the carpet, I felt those rooms didn't feel as clean, especially for a place that was pet friendly. I ultimately felt the cozy atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. I would recommend it to a friend.Would recommend to others? Yes
We love this place. It’s a wonderful home away from home for my family. It’s in a perfect location, a short distance from downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge but it feels miles away once you make a couple of turns up the hill. This is our 2nd stay in this cabin on Christmas and will always choose this cabin as long as it’s available.Would recommend to others? Yes
Very clean and relaxing
Very nice quiet area. Very clean. Did not like the bunk beds. Felt that should be for kids only. Mattresses not supportive at all and most adults would not be able to get on top bunk. Downstairs bed was awesome! Back deck great place to relax. Easy access to cabin. No outside stairs made it easy for my elderly mom.Would recommend to others? Yes
Super home-y cabin
The cabin was absolutely wonderful! It greatly met out expectations and we were overall very happy with it. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you may need for a long stay (pots, pans, spoons, forks etc.). The cabin was very clean upon our arrival as well. My only warning is that it is in the mountains so be ready for a bit of a steep drive.Would recommend to others? Yes
I would recommend this cabin to everyone I know!
The cabin was beautiful! The scenery of the mountains was beautiful. We saw a mama bear and baby bear which is pretty amazing. My kids also said they want to go back every year!Would recommend to others? Yes
Don’t stay in this cabin
Bearly Time only has one HVAC unit for downstairs and upstairs. Heat did not work and by the time we got space heaters, the sun had warmed up the cabin. Heat never got fixed.Would recommend to others? No
Needs minor improvements
The cabin is cute and in a great location just a few miles from Pigeon Forge and a few miles from Gatlinburg. The downside is, only 1 jet in the hot tub works and its finicky at that. The downstairs toliet wouldn't stop running after you flush it. The king size bed is by far the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on, making me sleep in the bunk beds upstairs because it was softer. This cabin isn't really ideal for pets either because there isn't much grass area to walk your dogs and the neighbors are super close. But with all the being said, none of those things ruined our trip by any means and we had a wonderful time.Would recommend to others? Yes
Remote, but dingy
Great cabin and perfect size for two, but we did have a few issues (hot tub, living room furniture is in poor condition, grill is a rusty outdoor griddle rather than a proper grill, and several dirty dishes upon arrival). The location however was perfect, and the deck was completely private especially compared to some of the other cabins in that area -so we really appreciated that, helped the stay seem more remote. Realize it’s not the most expensive cabin in Gatlinburg, but some of the grimy-ness just shows lack of care. Ultimately the issues with the hot tub is the biggest complaint because I noticed a couple other reviews mentioning these issues, and clearly the owners/managers don’t care to fix it (jets do not work/temp buttons not responsive).Would recommend to others? No
First it was extremely clean. The pictures don't do it justice it was a great place to stay for our family vacation. The back deck was very nice and the hot tub was private but wide open feeling. Really liked having the pool table and arcade to keep kids and adults busy when at the cabin. Overall we would definitely go backWould recommend to others? Yes
