The Slick Rock Racer at Dollywood Splash County will have you squealing as you race down the slide’s multiple pitches. This is a favorite with groups, and it’s also a lot of fun to ride alone.

Unlike most other water slides that have just one track, the Slick Rock Racer features four identical slides that sit side-by-side. Riders go down all at once, making this a blast to race friends and family on.

Regarding excitement, Dollywood Splash County rates this an aggressive-level ride, which means it’s exciting but has nowhere near the potential scare that high-thrill rides do. The three dips on the slide are just long and steep enough to get riders smiling — and maybe elicit a little squeal out of children.

Everyone does go face-first on a mat, so you’re sure to get splashed with a bunch of water at the end of each dip and at the bottom. Children can ride on the mats so long as they’re at least 42 inches tall. Since riders go face-first, this isn’t a ride that parents can take children down with them on — all riders must go on their own mat. (The mats are kept at the slide’s location.)

For groups with school-age children who are tall enough, this slide is a sure-fire favorite. Kids love racing each other and the adults with them. Even if you don’t have children in your group, it can still be a lot of fun to go down a slide at the same time as other members of your party.

Insider Tips:
– Since the four lanes sit side-by-side, the Slick Rock Racer is a great opportunity for group portraits. Position one person in your group at the bottom of the slide with a camera, and have them start clicking when everyone gets near the bottom. As long as there are a lot of pictures, you’re bound to have one that shows everyone getting splashed and smiling.

– The ride sits off by itself on the edge of the park, so there aren’t any refreshments in the immediate vicinity. If you’re hungry or thirsty, get something from a vendor before you head to the slide.
