Take a headfirst ride down 42 twisting and turning feet on the aptly named Mountain Twist slide at Dollywood’s Splash Country.
Mountain Twist is one of three water slides at Dollywood’s Splash Country in Pigeon Forge that incorporate foam mats or body boards. Unlike the other two—Slick Rock Racer and TailSpin Racer—Mountain Twist isn’t a multi-lane racing setup. Instead, it’s a spread of three crazily convoluted mat slides with enough twists and turns to keep things mighty interesting for a solo rider all the way from top to bottom.
You’ll be snaking your way downslope at a mighty fast clip on the Mountain Twist chute, clinging tight to your mat racer while you enjoy the face-first descent under Splash Country trees. Thrills aplenty are the inevitable result!
The Mountain Twist hillside sits close to two other thrilling Splash Country plunges: the Mountain Scream (snaky tunnels and a quadruple-drop water slide) and the Slick Rock Racer. The latter is, again, another option for mat-racer-style fun at the waterpark: this one played out not on a twisty-turny flume but via four lanes that propel its racers down a dipping straight shot.
Another option besides Slick Rock Racer if you want some competition is TailSpin Racer, a newer installation with a full six lanes that incorporates a looping AquaTunnel section as well as a major open-topped drop.
While it doesn’t have the racing option of the other two mat slides, Mountain Twist more than holds its own with the fast-paced fun of its long, sharply turning and looping channels.
Mountain Twist—classified as one of the basic “thrill” rides at Dollywood’s Splash Country—has a 36-inch minimum height requirement. That’s another plus compared to Slick Rock Racer and TailSpin Racer, only open to riders 42 inches or taller.
For one loop-dee-loop of a downhill slide at Dollywood’s Splash Country, point those flip-flopped feet toward Mountain Twist!
