With plentiful go-kart tracks spread throughout Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, Xtreme Racing Center boasts the fastest karts in the entire region. These go-karts, which hit speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour, are aimed at those who have a need for speed.
Even those world-class Sodi carts are speedy, you don’t have to leave the little ones at home if you decide to race at Xtreme Racing. The venue also boasts an elevated track where passengers as young as three years of age can accompany their parents on a thrilling ride that is enjoyable for the entire family.
As soon as you catch a glimpse of Xtreme Racing Center’s main track, you’ll know that this facility is serious about your racing experience. The course measures 3,500 linear feet, and it’s a sinuous beast.
Not challenging enough yet? Your ride for this twisting-and-turning course will be a Sodi GT-5 go-kart, also known as the Pro Kart. This speedy little kart can reach speeds of up to 30 miles an hour. But it’s not the fastest one offered at Xtreme Racing Center. That honor goes to the track’s X-Treme Kart, which is a Sodi RT-8 professional race kart. It can reach speeds of up to 40 miles an hour, which is considerably faster than the vehicles you normally find at a family-friendly go-karting track.
Not surprisingly, drivers who want to wheel one of these speedy machines must be at least 11 years of age and 52 inches tall. And because this is serious racing, you’ll also need to wear a helmet. Fortunately, Xtreme Racing provides or — if you own one — you can always bring your own helmet. In addition, closed-toe shoes are required on all karts.
Of course, speed always seems to come at a price. So you can expect to pay slightly more to race at Xtreme Racing Center in comparison to some of the other tracks in the area. But if you’re interested in that real racing feel, we’re pretty sure you’ll think that speed is well worth a few extra bucks.
Searching for a slightly tamer experience? Then we would suggest you test your skills on Xtreme Racing Center’s elevated track instead. It’s shorter, only 1,500 feet, and you can choose between a single or a double go-kart on this track. Drivers who want to wheel a single kart must be at least 56 inches tall. For the double karts, drivers must be at least 16 years of age and 56 inches tall, while their passengers must be at least 3 years old. The Xtreme Racing Center also has an indoor arcade where non-racers can test their skills at games, such as skee ball or shooting hoops.
And, remember, this is racing not bumper cars. If your behavior is considered dangerous to others or yourself, you could be black-flagged (barred from racing). If you are black-flagged, you will not be refunded your money.
Insider Tips:
-We recommend that you allot enough time for at least two races if you intend to drive one of the facility’s Pro Karts. Why? Because in order to race in a Pro Kart, you must first make a qualifying run in an X-Treme Kart. After your initial run, you will be moved up to the faster carts and will run the same course, but in the opposite direction. Your starting order for the second race will be the reverse of how you finished your first race. In other words, if you finished first, you’ll be put to the back of the pack. It’s not a punishment. It’s so you can enjoy the challenge of passing other racers.
