New experiences are always worth pursuing, and yet, many perfectly capable individuals resist anything that might involve a hint of artistry. Art-related anxieties can easily be put to rest at Painting with a Twist, which offers a non-judgmental, fun-loving atmosphere in which painters of all levels feel perfectly at ease.
Painting with a Twist may be a national chain with locations in several states, but the Asheville edition provides an intimate, personalized atmosphere that feels true to the region. Conveniently situated in Biltmore Park, the studio is easy to access. Parking is available across the street or in a nearby garage.
Sessions typically last two hours, although more complicated works may require three hours. These sessions sometimes fill well in advance, so it’s important to book early if you are determined to try your hand at a specific type of painting. Seating is assigned, so be sure to specify if you’d like to sit by a specific person as you paint. Otherwise, this is the perfect opportunity to make a new friend. What better way to bond than over canvas and paint?
Food is not offered onsite, but as a BYOB studio, Painting with a Twist allows you to bring your own snacks and beverages. Otherwise, the studio is conveniently situated near multiple restaurants worth visiting before or after your painting adventure, including Neo Burrito, Hickory Tavern, and the Thirsty Monk.

A feast for all of the senses awaits during karaoke night, when you can paint and sing to your heart’s delight. Don’t be shy; your participation could be rewarded with a gift certificate. Even if you aren’t willing to sing, you’ll enjoy the light-hearted atmosphere at this event.
On the hunt for a date night activity that allows you and your significant other to harness the power of your inner artist? What better way to get the romance going than with one of Painting with a Twist’s couples sets? During this unique activity, each person paints on his or her own canvas, with the two paintings eventually joining in the middle to create a single image.
Multiple materials are available during Painting with a Twist events — and each presents its own opportunities and challenges. Wood pallets are ideal for capturing rustic vibes while also granting your space a fresh and on-trend look. Several different paintings can be completed on wood pallets, so check out the calendar for the Asheville location to find out which themes are scheduled in the next few weeks.
Given the sheer variety of Painting with a Twist events, you’ll want to return at least once to experience a different style of painting. No matter which event you choose, you will emerge with a greater sense of confidence — and a beautiful painting that you’ll treasure in years to come.
