A fun spin on the art of glassblowing, Lexington Glassworks marries the art with the local pastime of craft beer and socializing with an entertaining peek into the handmade art.

Owners Billy and Geoff hailed from distant areas of the country before settling on Asheville to create their unique space. Billy, a former head studio technician at the prestigious Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Geoff, managed a nationally regarded glass blowing studio in the Southwest, combined their passion and commitment to high-quality hand-blown glass with the feel of their new home.

Treating yourself to a visit to Lexington Glassworks will gain you a front row seat to seeing the century old technique of glassblowing made by top notch artists with locally sourced materials. The beautiful result is not only a sight to see being made, but is also one you can take home with you as a souvenir, home accent piece or makes a lovely gift. Plus, throughout the year you can enjoy a small selection of rotating Asheville craft beers on tap, Fridays through Sundays from 2pm to 6pm.

The studio and gallery not only showcases the Southeast’s most renowned art but also the open door culture that Asheville is known for. Setting foot in the studio and gallery is a wonderful way to gain appreciation for the artist as well as the art. Each piece is skillfully crafted to create a timeless work, it’s  certainly a fantastic thing to witness being made. From ornaments to vases, glassware to serve ware sets, watching a piece of art come to life and then being able to take it with you to enjoy later really is a unique experience that Lexington Glassware masters beautifully.

Open Monday through Sunday, with no glassblowing Tuesdays, make note to stop in when in the area. Additionally, Lexington Glassworks a variety of collaborative events, such as the Glassworks Concert Series. Yet another reason why the space is so wonderfully unique to the area as it is continuing to foster relationships with the makers and artists of different creative mediums, whether that is craft brewers, local musicians, or artists.
