Get ready to sample some of the best brews in the Asheville area. At Sweeten Creek, you’ll find a wonderful selection of IPAs. Most are classic, but some drinks on tap offer unique twists.
While many visitors arrive at Sweeten Creek exclusively in hopes of sampling its beers, most are equally excited about the brews and the accompanying sandwiches and shareables. There’s nothing quite like sipping a quality IPA while nibbling on a grinder or a grilled cheese sandwich. The food makes Sweeten Creek worth visiting even if you don’t particularly like beer.
Speaking of visitors who don’t appreciate beer…if you visit exclusively for the sandwiches, you’ll notice that your non-alcoholic drink selection is somewhat limited. However, Sweeten Creek offers Coke, Diet Coke, and Jarritos. The sandwiches and sides are flavorful enough that you just might be satisfied with a cup of water.
Seating at the bar is limited, but no worries — when the weather is nice, it’s way more fun to chill outside. The brewery’s vast property includes several picnic tables and a large grassy area that you’re welcome to explore. Several yard games are available to keep you and your friends entertained.
Sweeten Creek is dog-friendly, in part due to its large outdoor space. Feel free to bring your pooch; this is one of Asheville dog lovers’ favorite spots to hang out. Visitors of all ages and multiple species have been known to spend hours at the brewery, sampling beers, snacking on appetizers, and playing games at their leisure. It’s immediately obvious that the staff wants the brewery to be a welcoming place where all guests feel comfortable.
A few our of favorite brews on tap include the following:
Asheville Style IPA
If you’re from out of town and looking to experience the best of Asheville, you can’t afford to miss Sweeten Creek Brewing’s beloved Asheville Style IPA. The brew retains much of the taste of a Northeast-style IPA. You’ll enjoy fruity and piney flavors, along with a crisp finish.
Busby Black IPA
Boasting a “silky smooth” feel and dark chocolate malt flavors, this rich IPA is brewed with lactose to provide a slightly milky touch.
Wyndridge Crafty Cider
If you abhor beer but are forced to accompany a friend or family member to Sweeten Creek Brewing, at least you can rely on hard cider to keep you happy. This guest tap is simple, yet satisfying.
Hungry? You’re in luck, for Sweeten Creek Brewing boasts a sandwich shop. A few of our favorite menu items include the following:
Custom Melt Grilled Cheese
Pair your beer with a grilled cheese sandwich that abides by your specific preferences. Begin with Texas toast, marble rye, or thick-cut wheat bread. Add Sweeten Creek’s housemade pimento or a two-cheese blend of cheddar and provolone. Feel free to add bacon, turkey, or avocado to form the perfect sandwich. Like all sandwiches served at the brewery, the grilled cheese melt comes with a side of either kettle chips, potato salad, or macaroni salad.
Lentz Wrap
A wonderful option for vegetarian visitors, this popular menu item includes a spinach wrap with housemade black-eyed pea hummus, as well as shredded lettuce, shaved onion, avocado, pickled peppers, tomato, and a unique horseradish yogurt sauce.
Grinder
Meat lovers adore Sweeten Creek’s Grinder, which includes a nice mix of salami, smoked ham, capicola, and provolone. Additionally, the sandwich features mayonnaise, a special sub dressing, pepperoncini, shredded romaine, and shaved onion. All this is served on a fresh sub roll. Looking to amp it up with a little extra spice? Request to substitute the standard mayonnaise with sambal mayo.
Insider Tips:
-Don’t be discouraged if you struggle to find the brewery at first. It is located along a rather innocuous road and therefore not immediately visible to the average newcomer. Keep an eye out for a small sign that will tell you when to turn.
-Check the official Sweeten Creek website’s calendar or Instagram page to learn of upcoming events. During the summer months, the brewery regularly hosts charity events, volleyball leagues, and more.
